Shepherds Friendly

Shepherds Friendly is a UK mutual society, founded in 1826 and run for the benefit of its nearly 85,000 members rather than shareholders. Its Income Protection Insurance replaces a portion of income — up to 70% of earnings, tax-free — for employed or self-employed members aged 16–60 unable to work through illness or injury, including those with pre-existing conditions. Cover can start from day one, with terms up to age 70. The plan holds a 5-star Defaqto rating and paid 96% of new claims in 2024, reflecting Shepherds Friendly's long-standing commitment to protecting members' financial wellbeing.
