Executive orders from the White House include plans for US nuclear energy capacity to quadruple by 2050. Overcoming many challenges will be necessary to achieve this, and it could significantly impact the energy sector. Currently, the US nuclear fleet’s 94 reactors provide about 20% of electricity with approximately 100 GW capacity; these were mostly built in the 1970s and 1980s.
