The care funding system in England has been widely perceived to need an overhaul. The ageing population means there are more people than ever reaching older ages and in need for care. In September 2021, the Government announced a plan for health and social care in England which would introduce a lifetime cap on personal care costs of £86,000 and increase the thresholds of the means-tested support provided by Local Authorities.
